SAN ANTONIO, Oct. 21 (Ticker) -- Brent Barry may be getting up there in
years but showed he can still play a little bit.
Barry scored 13 of his 15 points in the second quarter to lift
the San Antonio Spurs to a 103-93 preseason victory over the
Miami Heat.
Tony Parker scored 17 points and Michael Finley added 15 for the
Spurs, who shot 48 percent (35-of-73) from the field and held a
47-39 rebounding advantage.
Barry, 34, has seen his role reduced with the Spurs and nearly
was dealt at the trading deadline last season. But the former
Slam Dunk champion made three 3-pointers in the second period,
when the Spurs built a four-point lead to 55-39 at halftime.
Bruce Bowen scored 12 points and Jackie Butler added 11 for San
Antonio, which won despite just three points on 1-of-3 shooting
by superstar Tim Duncan.
Shaquille O'Neal scored 24 points and fellow superstar Dwyane Wade added 23 for the Heat, who shot under 37 percent
(30-of-82), including 2-of-19 from the arc.
Starters Udonis Haslem and Jason Williams did not play for
Miami, which has dropped four of five preseason games.
